Praxis changed everything

With the signing of the Khitomer Accords, the United Federation of Planets and her greatest adversary, the Klingon Empire, found themselves in an uneasy peace.

The year is 2295.

In the two years since the signing of the Accords the Federation Council has tasked Starfleet Command with revamping the Beta Quadrant Exploration program. The USS Hecate, one of the first Excelsior Refit vessels in the fleet will embark on a five year exploration mission beyond the Klingon and Romulan Empires. Penetrating the furthest reaches of the Beta Quadrant, her name is destined to be drawn in the same breath as Excelsior, Enterprise and other storied ships of Starfleet’s history.

Take a look around. If you like what you see, fill out an application form. Should you not see a position you want on the manifest, please contact us.

On behalf of the staff and crew of the USS Hecate, welcome! Join us and discover the Federation’s Golden Age!

Crew!

The Hecate is slowly coming out of her hibernation.

With work now calming down, I'll slowly be getting to grips with moving the Hecate along this week.

The aim is to get Shakedown finished before the end of the year so we can begin 2025 by getting our exploratory voyage well under way.

Please keep an eye out for tags and updates!

Here's to 2024 and another successful year for the Hecate!

Mission: EPISODE 1: SHAKEDOWN
Posted on Sun Apr 12th, 2026 @ 7:22pm by Lieutenant Juno Jones & Captain Robert Burke

Though their time aboard the USS Hecate had been relatively minimal at this point, Juno had found themselves thrust upward into the position of being the Chief Engineer of the Excelsior class starship. Juno's predecessor, Haruka Amami had left so quickly that her abrupt departure had triggered the need for someone to either be promoted within the department or a last minute reassignment to take Amami's place. That was how Juno came to be Chief Engineer, and he was doing his best to play catch up. Good thought Juno as they skimmed over a data tablet containing information from their…

Mission: EPISODE 1: SHAKEDOWN
Posted on Sun Apr 12th, 2026 @ 7:02pm by Ensign Julia Vonner

“Ensign Vonner, get us vectored onto the first waypoint. Standby for one-quarter impulse power,” instructed Commander Michael Prisk. Santorini’s chief flight controller and executive officer sat just over half a meter to her immediate left in the command chair, a layout peculiarity that unsettled her during her inceptive months aboard.

“Aye, sir,” Julia evenly acknowledged as she deftly input RCS thruster bursts to pirouette the ship onto its new course, monitoring the progress of the maneuver on her readouts. A faint inertia shift lent physical corroboration that instigated another telltale.

“Wheeee. . .” intoned Lieutenant j.g. Mariah Ta from the…

Mission: EPISODE 1: SHAKEDOWN
Posted on Mon Mar 30th, 2026 @ 2:40am by Lieutenant Marques Hunt & Lieutenant JG Gianna De Luca

Marques sat in the waiting room of the counseling offices for his appointment. There was a little drama getting across the Klingon border, but overall everything was in the clear. The Lieutenant was all about doing his job and following orders. But something about helping the Klingons, just seemed wrong. It had been a while, since he last spoke with a counselor regarding his feelings about the Klingons.

"Lieutenant Hunt?" Gianna popped her head out from her office and called out for the next person she was meant to be seeing. Not only was he the Chief FCO but he…

Mission: EPISODE 1: SHAKEDOWN

Shanice Winters sat in her office, jotting down some notes for her next interview. An hour, she had finished speaking with her publisher who ecstatic about her interview with Captain Burke. The interview would go out among the Federation in three days. The Hecate had arrived at their destination the day prior, and things had settled down a bit among the crew. Though nerves were a bit around the ship of the unknown, especially regarding the initial escort situation. Her next interview was with Lieutenant Gianna De Luca, who she invited to her office.

It was getting to be a…

Mission: EPISODE 1: SHAKEDOWN
Posted on Mon Mar 2nd, 2026 @ 5:52pm by Lieutenant JG Maël "Gideon" Beauregard & Ensign Clementine "Clemmie" Vidamour & Lieutenant Juno Jones

Maël "Gideon" Beauregard clapped his palms together, and it was a sound sharp enough to rattle the chatter that had swelled toward the end of the staff meeting. A dozen gold-collared uniforms shifted in their seats, some smiling, some already in the midst of rising to leave and murmuring.

"Well," he said, voice warm and carrying that slow Gulf Coast drawl, "I reckon I've taken up enough of y'all's morning. Go on--get back to work before somebody figures out I don't know what I'm doin' yet."

A ripple of laughter rolled through the room, the kind of laughter that loosens…
